VORTEX – Vascular Occlusion Resuscitation Training Exercises

VORTEX is an advanced level endovascular – REBOA based resuscitation course for prehospital or in-hospital clinicians who have completed the associated theory day.

The additional VORTEX-theory day can be delivered some time in advance or on the preceding day. This consists of theory and practical skills can be added for those advanced

level organisations or individuals eg HEMS, ED, MTC staff that are new to endovascular resuscitation.

The main VORTEX course provides unique ultra-high fidelity simulations, consisting of six advanced endovascular resuscitations using balloon occlusion techniques with a number of different endovascular devices, including the latest partial flow P-REBOA catheter. Each exercise is followed by a comprehensive debrief by the expert EVTM trained Faculty.

VORTEX is aimed at teams such as HEMS or advanced resuscitation teams who are planning or already using REBOA in their practice.

In addition to the extended debriefs the scenarios include ultrasound guided insertions and practical control and use of the catheters as part of a wider endovascular resuscitations of the critically ill casualty.

This course is supported by the EVTM society, Sweden.
