RESUSCITATOR – facilitated discussion group

Resuscitator developed from a concept that we launched and demonstrated at ‘The Big Sick 2025’ in Zermatt. This is not a typical life support course, but an in depth, facilitated discussion with a group of your fellow clinicians and peers from a multidisciplinary background. This not only provides education, revision and updates, but also allows the team to explore how they may adapt their approach to optimise delivery and to consider some alternative options and approaches.

From childhood and throughout history we have gathered to learn ‘in the round’ at campfires, traditional theatre and even the operating theatre. We set up Resuscitator sessions in the same way, with a circle of seats, a large whiteboard to capture our discussions and a facilitator to direct the session. In the centre of the group, we also have a live simulated resuscitation, which can be paused at any time to practice interventions or to explore options and our next steps.

Rather than simply looping the algorithm yet again, Resuscitator challenges the participants with the question, if our current approach has not worked then ’what next?’ – going beyond the basic algorithm and using their knowledge, experience and all of the details in the latest resuscitation guidelines, the facilitator leads the group through the options, and the evidence, together with additional injects from live internet searches and even AI.

The sessions can be pitched at whatever level you chose and can stay totally within resuscitation guidelines or can take an advanced approach to explore far beyond, to the limits of current knowledge or to better optimise your approach based on local knowledge and capabilities.

At the end of the session, all of the discussion has been captured on a whiteboard and the group can visually see, degrees of evidence, what look like our best interventions, the timing of these interventions and where evidence of effectiveness is limited.

These facilitated sessions can be 1 hour, half day, full day or even 2 days if your wish to explore one or all aspects of resuscitation.
