Module 5

Limited Resource Immediate First Aid

Course Overview
The IFAK Care Course is a 1-day intensive programme designed for police officers, surveillance operatives, close protection teams, and other personnel who may be required to deliver medical interventions with only limited resources available.
This course equips participants with the knowledge and hands-on skills to perform life-saving interventions in dynamic, austere, or tactical pre-hospital environments—bridging the critical gap before advanced medical care or equipment becomes available.
Developed by seasoned tactical medical instructors, the course uses realistic, immersive scenarios to replicate high-pressure environments, ensuring participants can apply IFAK contents effectively during critical incidents.

Learning Outcomes
Delivered as Module 5 of the Civilian Tactical Medicine Programme, participants will learn to:
  • Identify the purpose and essential components of an IFAK.
  • Understand the selection and application of IFAK contents in life-threatening scenarios.
  • Apply the MARCH algorithm for rapid trauma assessment and intervention.
  • Perform safe and effective use of IFAK equipment for haemorrhage control, airway compromise, and chest trauma.
  • Operate under pressure through realistic simulation exercises.
  • Recognise the limitations of IFAKs and when advanced medical intervention is required.
