Tactical Medical Planning

Overview
The Tactical Medical Planning Course is a 2-day programme designed for Emergency Service ground responders and operational medics who are responsible for developing and managing medical plans in complex environments.
From small-scale incidents to large-scale emergencies and public events, this course provides the skills to anticipate medical needs, coordinate resources, and integrate medical operations seamlessly into wider incident management frameworks.

Training is delivered through a blend of lectures, case studies, group work, and table-top exercises, ensuring participants gain both the theoretical knowledge and practical insights needed to lead effectively in high-pressure environments.



Key Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Conduct medical risk assessments and anticipate casualty loads.
  • Develop scalable medical response plans for a variety of incident types.
  • Apply principles of triage, treatment, and transport.
  • Coordinate effectively with Emergency Services and public health partners.
  • Plan for special populations, hazardous environments, and prolonged field care.
  • Integrate medical planning into operational and tactical decision-making.

  • Duration: 2 days
  • Certification: Certificate of Completion in Tactical Medical Planning, plus module credits towards the Civilian Tactical Medicine Programme.
