Penthrox Methoxyflurane the new hand-held emergency pain relief inhaler delivers an analgesic medicine quickly to accident victims and trauma patients transforming the management of emergency pain relief.

Our officially approved training for Penthrox will explain the history and background of the drug and describe how it can be used safely with good effect and so the risks of serious adverse effects can be minimised.

The ‘Train the Trainer’ is approximately a 3-hour course that consists of six sessions which include all of the key elements of the course and practice with the inhaler device. After each session, there are 10 true or false self-assessment questions, to ensure that the knowledge has been received and understood.

This is then followed by the second half of the course, which includes a session on course delivery and then all of the elements of the actual ‘User’ course. The course ends with a series of clinical cases which offer a chance for final self-assessment and practice of when it would or wouldn’t be appropriate to use Penthrox, based on its current licence.
